Dear friends,

I am happy to welcome fencing aficionados from all over the world in the capital of Ukraine.
Ukraine is famous for its glorious traditions in this sport that is why holding of the European championship in our country is, in a way, a sign of recognition of Ukraine's importance on the fencing map of Europe.

I am convinced that these 6 days of July will bring unforgettable impressions for athletes and spectators as well. Once a noble martial art turned to an elegant sport, and now all of us will enjoy an exquisite and captivating show.
I hope that these competitions will give a fresh impetus to development of fencing in Ukraine and after the tournament more boys and girls will take foils, epees and sabers in their arms to defend our country's honour on the international competitions.
